It's a great way to explore Kelowna BC and see art galleries, experience live performances in the parks during summer, see public art sculptures around the city, and enjoy Kelowna's waterfront on Okanagan Lake at the same time!
Rotary Centre for the Arts is an Okanagan arts venue which showcases a variety of arts-related exhibits, festivals and other events. Inside the Rotary Centre you can browse the Alternator Gallery which is a Kelowna gallery focused on giving local artists the opportunity to show their contemporary art. The centre also houses a dance studio and working studios for artists. Additionally, Rotary Centre for the Arts includes the Mary Irwin Theatre and provides music rehearsal rooms.
The Central Okanagan is alive with artist activity, and this is often visible when touring the Okanagan's various neighbourhoods, towns and cities to visit the plethora of art galleries here. Downtown Kelowna alone has dozens of art galleries and shops including the Turtle Island Gallery featuring First Nations artwork, The Art Ark which houses three galleries right in the Kelowna Downtown area, the Alternator Gallery, the Kelowna Art Gallery and more. In the Mission area of Kelowna BC one can visit the Tate Gallery and SOPA Fine Arts on south Pandosy Street and stroll the neighbourhood of trendy and funky shops.
The Kelowna Community Theatre has been staging music, theatre and dance performances for the Central Okanagan for over 40 years. The theatre is home to the Okanagan Symphony Orchestra and also regularly displays the artwork of Okanagan artists.
